At YCF, we believe that every student deserves an opportunity to succeed.
We focus on providing grants to educational institutions that promote the study of vernacular languages and scholarships to deserving Malaysian students of all races pursuing studies in Mandarin-based schools
The Yu Cai Foundation is committed to supporting the multilingual and multicultural facets of the Malaysian education system. We believe it is advantageous for the country to cultivate talent with multilingual capabilities across diverse backgrounds to provide them with a competitive edge on a global scale. In addition, vernacular languages help to preserve our unique cultural heritage.
Education is the basic foundation that shapes our lives and talent must be nurtured to give the students an opportunity to uplift succeed. For the next generation to flourish, our children need to be equipped with knowledge, skills, qualifications and confidence. As such, we are committed to improving education and making opportunities accessible.
The YCF logo encapsulates our aims- it originates from the Chinese character “人” (or “person” in English) and the Chinese proverb “it takes 10 years to grow a tree but 100 years to nurture a person
YCF is merely a conduit, facilitating these opportunities, which will enable the recipients of our scholarships and grants, as well as educational institutions to excel. With the assistance provided, they can embrace opportunities and make a positive difference.
About YCF
- YCF was officially launched on the 28th of January 2015. We are a community-dedicated foundation, initiated by Ananda Krishnan and the Usaha Tegas Group. We are funded by surpluses from Pan Malaysian Sweeps Sdn Bhd.

Mission
- Yu Cai, or 育才, literally translated, means “to nurture talent” in Mandarin. Our primary mission seeks to advance, uplift, and benefit deserving students by providing them with support, resources, and financial aid.
How YCF Helps?
- Providing scholarships / sponsorships to Malaysian students wishing to further their studies in Mandarin-based schools
- Providing scholarships to students pursuing training as vernacular language teachers
- Provide funding to ensure that adequate laboratory equipment, conducive for a good learning environment is available in vernacular schools
- Providing grants to educational institutions or individuals involved in scientific, artistic, technical, and vocational, or advanced academic pursuits that contribute to Malaysia’s socio-economic development
- Working with Mandarin-based educational institutions in collaborating with other institutions within the Malaysian education system to transform and improve the level of education in the country
YCF’s Secretariat
- The YCF Secretariat is headed by General Manager.

Scholarships for Teacher Training
- Providing scholarships to in-service teachers in Independent Chinese Schools (ICS) pursuing a two-year part-time Diploma in Education programme
- Providing scholarships to students pursuing a Bachelor of Education programme as vernacular language teachers at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris

Scholarships/Sponsorships for Mandarin-based Secondary Schools
- Providing scholarships to deserving Malaysian students from SJKC wishing to further their secondary studies in ICS and SMJK; and similarly, students from SJKT to SMJK
